A festive atmosphere filled the courts and hearts of athletes as the 1st Bacolod International Pickleball Tournament concluded last weekend, with thrilling matches and a strong show of international sportsmanship. The event marked a significant milestone for the city’s growing interest in the fast-rising sport of pickleball.
The tournament brought together top-level athletes and rising stars in a fierce but friendly competition across three categories: Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.
In women’s doubles, Medelene Saraza and Patricia Raymundo showcased undeniable synergy and tactical prowess on the court, besting a competitive field of contenders to claim the gold.
Neilson Chen and Allen Manlangit thrilled the crowd with powerful serves and strategic placements, earning them top honors in the men’s doubles category.

Chen proved to be a force to reckon with, earning another gold, this time in tandem with the dynamic Ko Jou Yu in the mixed doubles division.
The awarding ceremony was held at the picturesque Yanson Beach House in Talisay, where players, guests, and supporters gathered to celebrate the tournament’s success. Charles Dumancas, host and organizer of the event, personally thanked all athletes, coaches, spectators, and technical team members who contributed to the smooth execution of the tournament.
“This is more than just a tournament, it’s a celebration of athleticism, community, and international friendship through sport,” Dumancas said during his remarks. “We are grateful to all who joined us and helped put Bacolod on the global pickleball map.”
The tournament’s resounding success has set the stage for future events, with participants already looking forward to a bigger and even more competitive run next year. As the paddles are packed away for now, Bacolod celebrates not just its winners, but the spirit of sportsmanship that echoed through the courts all weekend long.*
