The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced an open house for its new Bacolod Philippines Temple, from April 16 through May 2.
Located along the Bacolod-Silay Access Road in Barangay Bata, the temple represents the first of its kind on Negros Island and the sixth in the country.
The Church welcomes people of all faiths to take a free tour of the sacred structure and its landscaped grounds, which feature traditional Filipino elements, including paternals of barong and sugarcane.
“When we go to the temple, what we learn is the savior himself, his life, his sacrifices, and because of his infinite atonement, because he suffered for our sins so we can be pure and worthy to enter his kingdom, that’s why we built temples, so we can strive to serve him. We hope that those who go inside the temple will leave with a greater desire to be kind, more forgiving, to the neighbors and friends,” General Authority Seventy Elder K. Brett Nattress said.
The reservations are required for the tours, though the facility will remain closed on Sundays.
The public viewing serves as a final opportunity for the community to explore the 12.4 acre grounds of the temple, which will be formally dedicated on May 31.*
