At the end of the first round of games, Organic Solutions cruised towards an easy win over JSY Countertrade with a final score of 67-53.
The first half was a back-and-forth contest, though it always seemed Organic Solutions were the better team. They raced to a 14-6 lead in the first quarter, but by halftime, the score was tied at 20 all. Organic Solutions didn’t slow things down in the second half and began to pull away by the third quarter after a 23-19 scoring difference, putting JSY behind by 4 points as they went into the final 12 minutes.
Organic Solutions closed the game out with a 24-13 final quarter, securing the lead easily to grab the victory. Glin Ortaliz led the way for Organic Solutions with 13 points, and earned player of the game, while Michael Posa had 12 points and Ervin Tan totaled 8 points. Brian Solinap recorded 14 points to lead JSY Countertrade, followed by 11 from Leonard Kilayko and Andy Tio’s 7 points.
In the other game, Royal Star Trading went up against Sweet Crystal Sugar. The latter got off to a strong start, earning a double digit lead heading into the second quarter with the score at 28-18. The pace picked up in the second, when Sweet Crystal Sugar pushed ahead to an eleven-point advantage by halftime, 50-39.
Royal Star Trading however took control in the third quarter, pushing to hold a 1 point as they prepared to enter the final frame at 59-58. Sweet Crystals ran out of answers down the stretch, as the Royals charged to out score them 33-10 over the final twelve minutes, ending the game with a final score of 92-68.
Arvin Gustilo led Royal Star Trading with 27 points, Marvin Del Campo followed with 14 points, Dr. Judah Gozar logged 12, while Beejay Paredes and Celhelm Uy delivered 8 and 6 points, respectively.
Meanwhile, Richard Co led Sweet Crystal Sugar with 17 points, Ghill Malimbag and Jason Yap followed with 9 points each, while RA Sabio and Cris Pascua contributed 8 and 6 points, respectively.*
