A fisherman was reported by the police to have been stabbed by his own brother dead on December 11 Purok Patiño in Barangay Bocana, Ilog, Negros Occidental, an incident which was triggered by heated arguments.
The victim, who was identified by the Ilog police as Marvin Demson, 36, was declared dead on arrival at the Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City, while the 39-year-old suspect, Mario JR Demson, was arrested by Kagawad Ricky Gudaca after the stabbing incident.
Prior to the incident, the two siblings, who are fishermen, were both drunk.
The commotion ensued after Marvin punched his brother on the mouth. This prompted Mario to stab his brother twice in the stomach, police investigations showed.
Police also said that the suspect attacked Nydia Tolentino, live in partner of the victim, after trying to pacify the two siblings. However, Tolentino managed to evade the attack, a report of the Ilog police further said.
Mario is now detained at the Ilog police custodial facility, while the knife used in the commission of the crime was recovered by authorities.*
