Foreigner flagged for driver license fraud

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

The Land Transportation Office–Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) has initiated administrative proceedings against a driver’s license holder for allegedly misrepresenting their nationality to secure a Philippine license.

Investigations conducted by the agency revealed that the individual reportedly declared himself a Filipino citizen in the Land Transportation Management System.

Official records later confirmed that the individual is a foreign national.

The misrepresentation was discovered alongside other legal complications, including a deportation charge for undesirability and the individual’s inclusion on the Bureau of Immigration’s watchlist.

The case is also linked to a court-issued Permanent Protection Order involving alleged threats of violence.

The LTO-NIR has ordered the individual to explain why his license should not be revoked, why he should not be disqualified from holding driving privileges in the future, and why administrative sanctions should not be imposed.*
