Former Himamaylan City Mayor Carminia “Mincit” Gatuslao Bascon, 88, passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14, at a private hospital in Bacolod City, her son, former Mayor Agustin Ernesto “Tinto” Bascon announced yesterday.
Tinto said that their mother got depressed when his father, Oscar, died in 2021.
Former Mayor Mincit Bascon served as a mayor of the municipality of Himamaylan for three years, nine years as mayor when Himamaylan became a city, nine years as city vice mayor, and three years as councilor.
Her remains will be brought on Jan. 15 at the Our Lady of Snow in Himamaylan City, which she personally decorated during its fiesta, according to her son.
She will be buried on Sunday, Jan. 18, said Tinto, who succeeded his mother as mayor of Himamaylan City, for nine years.
On the other hand, the De La Salle Brothers, administrators, alumni, faculty staff, and students of the University of St. La Salle expressed their sympathy to the family of Dr. Edmundo Raul Causing, who died on Jan. 13, at the age of 57.
Causing, who used to be the former department chair of Agribusiness Management, as well as a College of Business and Accountancy faculty member of USLS, also served as Provincial Agriculturist of Negros Occidental.*
