Upon the approval of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., PBrig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba was promoted to the rank of major general in a permanent status, which took effect on October 4.
The promotion of Alba took place after he was recently designated as Director of the Police Community Relations (PCR).
Prior to his present position, Alba, a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class 1992, served as former Deputy Director, PNP Directorate for Human Resource Development Division (DHRDD), regional police director of Central Visayas, chief of the PNP Public Information Office, as Deputy Chief of PNP Information Technology Management Service (ITMS), Officer-in-Charge of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO), provincial director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), Chief, Regional Operations and Plans Division of Police Regional Office 6, and other command, staff and training assignments as a senior PNP officer.
PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil will lead the donning of ranks to newly promoted police generals, including Maj. Gen. Alba, on Oct. 31, at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
To reach this far, after 34 years of being in the law enforcement business, is not a walk in (the) park,” according to Alba, stressing that he inadvertently missed lots of birthdays, anniversaries, and travels with his family.
“Lots of sacrifices, discipline and patience has to be a part of the entire process,” he admitted.
In order for you to reach your dream, is to wake up and work on that dream, maximize all God given talents and skills, the newly promoted police general stressed.
His other predecessors from Western Visayas who also occupied the position as Director of PCR, include retired Maj. Gen. Reynaldo De Leon, who is now the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency head, and retired Maj. Gen. Leopoldo Bataoil, former congressman-turned mayor of Lingayen in Pangasinan.*
