Former officer-in-charge of the Office of the Building Official (OBO) of Bacolod City, Engr. Isidro Sun Jr., has been issued a three-month preventive suspension, without pay.
The formal charge of 90-day unpaid preventive suspension was issued on August 11 by the Office of the City Mayor and confirmed by City Legal Office head Atty. Joseph Karol Chiu on Wednesday.
The suspension follows formal charges filed against him by a business owner, in connection to a complaint that alleged irregular approval and extortion of P11,000 in exchange for an occupancy permit.
The charges filed against Sun include Grave Misconduct, Serious Dishonesty, and Violation of R.A. 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business Act, along with Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of the Service.
Sun had previously denied the allegations against him, through a written answer that was forwarded to the City Legal Office (CLO), in response to a show cause order.
Councilor Israel Salanga, committee chair of Labor, Management Relations and Overseas, and Social Services Development, urged Bacolodnons to file a complaint if they encounter extra charges, or having a hard time when transacting in the government office.
“As the issues of corruption are coming out, let’s take this opportunity. Give us your complaint or to Mayor Greg’s office so we can take immediate actions,” Salanga said.*
