A former rebel voluntarily surrendered to the local police at the 2nd Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company Headquarters in Sitio San Roque, Barangay Gargato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, on May 23.
The voluntary surrender and formal withdrawal of support were facilitated by provincial mobile forces, in coordination with the Hinigaran Municipal Police Station and the Regional Intelligence Unit.
Following proper documentation, the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) provided the surrenderee with financial assistance and a sack of rice as part of initial reintegration support.
The police said the individual is a former Yunit Militia member affiliated with the dismantled Central Negros 2, Komiteng Rehiyon – Negros, Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor.
The former rebel was subsequently released to the custody of his immediate family members.*
