Former rebels complete TESDA training, get bakery equipment

• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Seventeen former rebels have successfully earned Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Bread and Pastry Production and Carpentry NC II certificates.

This achievement was celebrated during a recently held graduation ceremony of the Community-Based and Center-Based Training, along with the turnover of bakery equipment to the former rebels.

The event, themed “Empowering Communities through Skills Development,” was held at the Guihulngan Satellite Skills Development Center, Barangay Poblacion, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, on January 24.

The training was facilitated by the Guihulngan City Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (GCTF-ELCAC), led by Mayor Filomeno Reyes, in collaboration with TESDA and the 62nd Infantry “Unifier” Battalion.

All participants, who acquired valuable new skills through the training program, also received  bakery equipment to help them establish a sustainable source of income and enhance their livelihood opportunities, said a statement issued by the 62IB.

In his message, Reyes expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Brig. Gen. Ted. Dumosmog, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, Lieutenant Colonel Evelio Ilanga III, 62IB commanding officer, and TESDA for providing free skills training to the former rebels.

Dumosmog also commended the partner agencies for their support.

“This initiative equips the participants with practical skills they can use to generate income and invest in their future,” he said.*
