A former town councilor was shot and killed by four unidentified suspects on April 12 at Sitio JMA in Barangay Payao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental
The 72-year-old victim, alias Dulpo, a former Sangguniang Bayan member of Isabela town, succumbed to gunshot injuries in the head, initial police investigations showed.
According to the Isabela police, the victim was driving a Honda XRM125 motorcycle and travelling from Sitio Manuleta towards Sitio JMA when he was waylaid by four unidentified suspects who shot him.
After killing the victim, who used to be a member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the four suspects fled on board two motorcycles.
The motive of the shooting incident and the identities of four suspects are still being established by the Binalbagan Police Station.
On the same day, a 69-year-old farm laborer was found dead in the upland area of Sitio Tan-ao, Brgy. Dian-ay, Escalante City.
The body of the victim, alias Amay, 66, was discovered to have been in an advanced state of decomposition, according to the police.
Police investigations showed that the victim was on his way to Brgy. Dian-ay in Escalante City, when an unidentified gunman waylaid and shot him.
The victim succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head.
Three fired cartridges of a firearm were recovered from the scene of the incident.*
