The Bacolod City Government will hold a traffic forum today, to be attended by all stakeholders and discuss steps on how to further improve the flow of traffic in the city before the opening of classes.
The Department of Education announced that the opening of classes for the school year 2023-2024 in all public schools will be on August 29, while private schools may opt to open classes starting the first Monday of June, but not later than the last day of August.
Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez directed the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office to monitor the traffic flow along the La Salle Avenue after the issue went viral over social media. He said this is to show that they are acting on every item or complaint they have received. So, they are trying to move as fast as they can to address these concerns.
Benitez said that before they can find a solution to the traffic woes, there must be an understanding of the problem.
“We need all the data, all the information we can get so we can arrive at a proper or the right solutions. I told them that before we make a decision, we need the empirical data to tell us really what is the problem. Once the problem has been correctly identified, then we will be able to arrive at the right solution,” the mayor said.
They will be discussing at the forum the options they will undertake to arrive at a possible solution to the traffic problem in Bacolod City, Benitez added.*
