The three times Mr. Football and Brisbane-based, Elmer Lacknet Bedia, embraced the Challenge Cup-Mundial, “Intercontinental Soccer Qualifiers” 11-a-side friendlies held at FIFA standard artificial grass soccer field, Victorias City on January 10, fresh from the Australian Futsal Association world tour.
“My nanay and tatay were not able to watch me playing football during my younger years…it is now my mission to plant seeds of love for soccer and peace in every nation,” said Lacknet Bedia during his inspirational talk.
“I was a poor boy from the province…lucky enough to play soccer in the Brisbane Olympics in the 80’s…now with two houses, six grown-up kids and cars living in a different continent with my grandchildren,” said coach Elmer.
In collaboration with the Office of City Mayor Abelardo Bantug III, the 19th Year Marking of Gardenville United Football Club Inc., ELB Filipino-Australian Football Association Inc., Filipino Canberra Community, the GoTyme Bank, The Sketchy Horse, and Philippine Airport Ground Support Services Inc., the event saw the participation of Canberra Buglas Region Sports Society, Celta De Victorias FT, Victorias City National High School FT, and Unidos De Victorias FT in a 35-minute straight 11-a-side format, single round robin, as CBR SS prepares for Challenge Cup – Mundial Luzon Leg in the second quarter of the year against UAAP WFT and PFL Clubs.*
