The San Carlos Negros Football Club, in coordination with the City Sports Office, held a two-day Futsal Festival at Barangay 4 and 1 covered courts on July 30-31.
In the women’s open category, the Pamplona Pontevedra FC-A emerged as champion, followed by Pocholo C. Yuvienco (PCY) Team as 1st runner-up and Silay Football Club as 2nd runner-up.
In the men’s open category, the Capuge Football Club-A won the championship, followed by the Gerardo P. Valmayor (GPV) Football Club-A with 1st runner-up and PCY Team as 2nd runner-up.
All winning teams received trophies.
Alexa Mae Casi of Pamplona FC Pontevedra and John Robert Mendoza Jr. of Capuge FC San Carlos City were chosen as most valuable players.
Roderick Parel, San Carlos Negros Football Club general secretary, said the festival aimed at exposing players’ skills in preparation for the various futsal programs that the city will implement as it slowly returns to normal operations.
The festival had a total of 78 matches, 44 for men’s and 34 for women’s with 25 participating football clubs including MB Balbacua FC, Les Lions Classico, GPV FC, Ardore Reborn FC, Los Amigos FC, Barbados FC, TCR, Old Sagay FC (OSFC Sheen Coop), Capuge FC, Chavales FC, Skeptron FC, Seaside Cafe and Resto (Sagay City), Kanlaon Hijos, Capuge FC, Los Amigos FC, PCY FC, Ganet FC, Sagay FC, San Carlos City FC, Classico De San Carlos FC, Tinampaan-Dilag Cadiz, Club De Los Hermanos de Futbol, Pamplona-Pontevedra FC and Silay FC.
The activity was among the last of the sporting events held in line with the 62nd Charter Day Anniversary of San Carlos City.*
