Bacolod City Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. continues to intensify his call for Mayor Greg Gasataya to immediately cancel the business permit of PrimeWater.
The councilor claimed that the numerous failures and poor service being inflicted upon consumers by the Bacolod City Water District (BACIWA)’s joint venture partner have become too much.
“The immediate suspension of PrimeWater’s business permit will protect the general welfare of the consuming public of Bacolod City,” said Gamboa.
Gamboa stated that the company’s operations must be halted due to its negligence and alleged history of operating without the necessary business permit for the past 3 years, which was secured only last September.
Gamboa delivered a privilege speech before the Sangguniang Panlungsod on Wednesday, simultaneously presenting a proposed resolution that asks Gasataya to immediately suspend the business permit of PrimeWater.
He stated that the resolution is based on PrimeWater’s failure to address the pressing problems of “dark, smelly, murky and contaminated water, lack of supply and high cost of water.”
Gamboa also responded to key questions raised regarding the capability of the BACIWA to operate without PrimeWater, to which he answered yes, citing that there are still competent personnel there.
So far, Gasataya has released a statement in response to the issues raised.*
