Over one month after Typhoon Tino hit Bacolod, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has reportedly allocated over P100 million in housing assistance for families in the city whose homes were damaged.
Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya said he is scheduled to meet with the department today to seek clarification regarding the distribution of the aid.
The mayor seeks to clarify if all families included in the list submitted by the city government will be covered by the aid, since the DSWD conducted a separate validation.
“We received information that not everyone will be able to receive and it is a challenge since others may complain,” he said.
The list details over 40,000 partially damaged and more than 4,000 totally destroyed houses.
Gasataya also shared that he was informed that those who will be excluded in the assistance may possibly receive help early next year.
The meeting is expected to finalize the mechanisms and scope of the aid distribution to the affected Bacolod residents.*
