Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya has signed an executive order requiring all city government projects be equipped with QR codes, to provide residents with direct access to project information.
Executive Order No. 39 was implemented to ensure transparency and good governance by allowing citizens to monitor how their tax contributions are being used.
“I believe transparency isn’t a favor to the public. It’s a debt we owe to every Bacolodnon who works hard to contribute to building our city,” Gasataya said.
Upon scanning the QR code, any resident can view essential details, including the project’s purpose, cost, and timeline, as well as the names of the contractor and project engineer.
“Through this, our city is finally modeling the future of open governance – commitment to transparency through action, transparency without compromise and made convenient in the palms of our hands,” he added.
The system will also include a platform for residents to submit complaints, concerns, and feedback, enabling the city government to address issues in real time.
The mayor has directed the Management Information Technology and Computer Services (MITCS) to make the new system operational, and the department has committed to have it running within two weeks.*
