Bacolod City Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya slammed what he called a “desperate political tactic” in an anonymous post on Facebook which he said is a veiled threat on his life.
In a statement posted on his official account, Gasataya said he takes such actions seriously, not only as a public servant, but also as someone who values life and the well-being of his family and loved ones.
Let me make this clear: threats, intimidation, and fear-mongering have no place in our community, and certainly not in our democracy, the solon said.
He, however, said that the desperate political tactics will not distract him from performing his duties with diligence and integrity in serving the City of Bacolod.
We will never tolerate violence, whether physical, verbal, or psychological, Gasataya said.
He appealed to everyone to remain vigilant, and to speak out against any form of threat or intimidation.
Let us not allow these despicable acts and behaviors disrupt the peace we worked so hard to achieve and maintain, the solon stressed.
The post, by an “anonymous source” on Friday showed a black and white photo of Gasataya with the words “1970-2025”, an apparent obituary.
Gasataya is currently on his last term as congressman, and is vying for the mayoral post of Bacolod City in the May 12 elections.*
