Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya is calling on the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to intensify their investigation into the killing of Efren Banaglorioso, a church driver who was fatally shot last Sunday.
On Wednesday, Gasataya met with the eldest son of Banaglorioso at the Bacolod City Government Center to condole with the family and offer burial and financial assistance.
The mayor assured the bereaved family that he will pursue a swift resolution to the case to ensure justice.
Banaglorioso, a driver for the Bacolod Cosmopolitan Christian Church in Barangay Taculing, was killed by an unidentified gunman outside the church on the morning of August 25.
“This brutal act of violence has no place in our city, and Bacolod will never tolerate lawlessness,” said Gasataya.
In an official statement, Gasataya said that a thorough investigation is underway in coordination with the BCPO.
Meanwhile, the police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and gathering intelligence. Investigators are exploring all angles, including the possibility of mistaken identity, as Banaglorioso had no criminal record.*
