Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday reiterated his call for Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) consumer members to go out and vote.
“If you’re eligible to vote, I strongly recommend that you go out and vote,” Lacson said.
A total of 27,741 CENECO member-consumers voted during the first two days of the plebiscite on the Joint Venture Agreement between CENECO and Primelectric Holdings Inc. on June 24 and 25, where 21,674 voted Yes, according to the report of the Over All Plebiscite Committee.
“It is not enough to say yes, without voting,” Lacson said, stressing that the remaining dates of the JVA plebiscite “is crucial.”
Four more plebiscite voting dates are scheduled on July 1 and 2; 8 and 9.
“My understanding is the target is 50 percent plus one,” Lacson said, adding that “it’s really up to the members-consumers if they want to support the JVA or not.”
A total of 192,188 CENECO member-consumers are eligible voters.
