Mayor Alfredo Marañon III disclosed yesterday the resumption of drilling operations of Tambuli Mining Company, in search of gold and copper in Sagay City, Negros Occidental, with an exploration permit issued by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
Marañon said that drilling operations started from 2012 to 2017, and resumed only recently, under the new management.
The Tambuli Mining Company, Inc. is the Philippine subsidiary of Celsius Resources, a mining and exploration development company.
“The commencement of drilling at Sagay is another milestone in the progression of both CLA and our local subsidiary companies, in an effort to create wealth for both shareholders and the Philippine Government, along with creating employment and business opportunities for the local communities, especially during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Celsius’ Chairman Martin Buckingham said in a statement issued by the company.
Celsius Resources said the drilling contractor has been appointed for seven diamond drill holes totaling about 4,400 meters, with landowners very supportive of the drilling program.
The company lauded the support of local government units who have been very supportive of the drilling work program, as they are looking to deliver a thorough and systematic exploration which could lead to the development of a responsible mining operation.*
