The game between Gold Partner Truck and GoodYear Tires was a back-and-forth affair in the start, with the latter earning a one point edge at the end of the first quarter in Fil-Sino Bacolod Truckers Basketball Cup.
Then the Golds outshone their rivals during the next two quarters, scoring 25-18 and 28-21, en route to a double digit lead going into the fourth quarter, with the score at 75-62.
It was a nip and tuck affair in the final ten minutes where the Gold shimmered victorious with a final score of 99-87. Michael Deocadiz took the player of the game honors after scoring 25 points, followed by Genmar Zagado with 15 points and Harvey Eslawa had 13 points. Tata Javillo and Michael Ang led GoodYear with 14 points apiece, followed by Alvan Rodriguez, Lito Dumdum, and James Garrucho with 11 points each.
The other game was between Varta and Jumbo, where the latter looked far more comfortable with 14 players in attendance, however, despite having only 9 players, Varta were not intimidated and raced to a 28-21 lead in the first quarter. The Jumbos bolstered their game in the second quarter but were still trailing with a 1-point deficit going into half time.
The third was even for both teams as both scored 27 for the quarter. However, any thoughts of a fourth quarter resurgence for Jumbo was essentially wiped out when Varta outscored them in the final frame, 24-13 to end the game with a final score of 103-91.
Jet Pili led Varta with 19 points, along with player of the game honors. He was followed by Randy Colonia with 17 points, while DK Equipaje and Jann Serfino had 15 and 14 points, respectively. Dirk Dongon posted 22 points to lead Jumbo, followed by Mickey Bernabe with 19 points.*
