Mayor Mark Andrew Golez has vowed to continuously bring the Silay City government closer to the people, and work and to heal as one in all the struggles of Silaynons.
“We will continue to move forward to face the challenges of the ‘new normal’ with the help and guidance of all,” Golez stressed in his “The Mayor’s Report 2022” held March 23 at the Natalio G. Velez Sports and Cultural Center in Silay City.
“Under my administration, we, the executive and legislative branches of government and the barangays, collectively affirmed the realization of putting into place the necessary physical structures and the provision of warm bodies, conveying exemplary public service to our farthest communities, through our extension office and other sustainable programs and continuing projects,” Golez further stressed.
He also promised to exemplify excellence in public service by providing an environment of equal opportunity to all.
Golez described the soon to start construction of the Silay City Capitol as a “landmark” and a symbol of hope and assurance for all Silaynons. “That your government does not only take pride that we have done well in serving you in the past, but of a commitment to offer you the best of what we can do today and in the future.”
He also reiterated the need for all Silaynons to bond together and brand themselves as catalysts of growth, with a sincere conviction to focus on the development of Silay City, “where our culture and heritage are preserved, where we Silaynons enjoy excellent services and eventually become a tangible, prosperous and resilient city, which people can really be proud of.”
Golez also enumerated the various gains achieved by his administration in the past three years, despite two years under the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our humble efforts were rewarded in 2021, by having garnered six Excell Awards and our City placed runner up in the excellence in Local Governance Awards, of which only two cities in Negros were conferred upon, by the Department of Interior and Local Government, Golez said.
Among the other awards that were received by the Silay City government were 2021 Outstanding LGU COVID-19 Response, Good Financial Housekeeping citation from DILG-Western Visayas, the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance Award and the Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Award also in 2021.
Golez also thanked Third District Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez, who attended his State of the City Address, and his brother former Rep. Alfredo Benitez, for their contribution in the development of Silay City.*
