Gov’t employee shot dead in San Carlos City

A government employee was reported by the police to have been shot and killed by a still unidentified gunman on August 31 in Brgy. Palampas, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

The victim was identified by the San Carlos City police as Antonio Locsin Abuyo, 63.

Police investigation showed that Abuyo was driving his motorcycle on his way home when he was waylaid and shot by the unidentified gunman at his back and head.

The victim was declared dead on arrival at the San Carlos City Hospital, according to the police.

A fired cartridge and a live ammunition of .45 caliber pistol were recovered at the scene of incident by the police.

On the other hand, a laborer identified as Manuel Tobias succumbed to a fatal injury after he was stabbed at the neck, also on Aug. 31 in Sitio Tiguisan, Brgy Montilla, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.

Police investigation showed that Tobias, 22, and five suspects identified by the police as Alberto Niepes, and his son, Ronel, as well as Robert, Rey and Rodel, all with the surname Niepes, figured in heated arguments at a videoke bar at the place, prior to the stabbing incident.

Pursuit operations by the Isabela police led to the arrest of Alberto Niepes and his son, Ronel, while the three other suspects managed to escape.*
