Local artists from various local government units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental participated in “Dagyaw Lunhaw,” an artistic green space modeling competition, held at the Ramon Torres National High School Gym in Bago City on June 24.
The competition highlighted the green spaces developed by different LGUs, celebrating their efforts in urban greening. The initiative emphasizes the importance of green spaces in advancing environmental sustainability, improving urban quality of life, and encouraging community engagement.
Nine entries competed in the open category, as entry no. 2 of Jasper Alvarez of Bago City winning first place. Entry no. 4 of Joesony Junas of Bago City and entry no. 6 of Arden Vargas of Hinigaran secured second and third places, respectively.
Fourteen contestants participated in the student category (Inter-LGU), where entry no.2 of Romel Cortez of Murcia claimed first place, followed by entry no.3 of Paulo Ofiaga of Victorias City winning second place, and entry no.7 of Lorenz Oscar Mendoza of La Castellana winning third.
The event was a collaborative effort between the Bago City government and the Negros Occidental Provincial Environment Management Office under its Urban Forestry Development Program.*
