Three hand grenades were thrown at RGH Car Rental shop located in Bangga Salgado, Purok Villa, Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City, at around 2:50 a.m. yesterday.
According to reports from the Explosives Ordinance Division (EOD)-Bacolod, only one of the grenades detonated, resulting in damage to a Toyota Hilux, a Ford EcoSport, and a Yamaha Aerox motorcycle, in a garage owned by Ranion Garingo.
It will undergo technical evaluation, while the two others, identified as M26 E1 type, failed to explode as the safety lever was not removed, aside from the safety pin.
Authorities suggest it indicates a lack of expertise on the part of the perpetrator of the attack.
The two unexploded grenades have been placed under the custody of the City Explosive and Canine Unit of Bacolod City Police Office for proper retrieval and disposal.
Police Station 8 continues its investigation into the case to establish the motive behind the attack and to identify the suspect, who was reportedly riding a motorcycle.
As of press time, authorities have yet to identify the two individuals who were riding in tandem on a motorcycle and are considered persons of interest in the crime.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage where the two suspects have passed to help establish their identities.*
