On December 10, in observance of International Human Rights Day, a coalition of ecumenical and human rights organizations will gather for a mobilization in Bacolod City, at the St. Joseph the Worker Parish (IFI Parish), Burgos Street, Bacolod City, a press release from the human rights groups said.
This event aims to advocate for peace, justice, and protecting the integrity of creation.
Led by the One Negros Ecumenical Council, in collaboration with Human Rights Advocates Negros, this collective effort will see the participation of various parishes from both South and North Negros. The groups aim to address the pressing concern of the deteriorating human rights situation in Negros.
According to documented reports by KARAPATAN, the past year witnessed over 60 cases of extrajudicial killings under the administration of Marcos. Moreover, within the confines of Negros Island, the Human Rights Advocates Negros (HRAN) has documented more than 33 cases of extrajudicial killings.
This mobilization stands as a unified call to action, seeking to raise awareness and demand accountability for these human rights violations.*
