The General Services Office at the Bacolod City Hall will be closed for disinfection after one of its utility workers from Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Also, the regular session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod will be held tomorrow, instead of today, since the Bacolod City Government Center will also be closed today for disinfection after the GSO utility worker was reported to have visited the facility to process his loan and payroll.
GSO head Jerome Solinap said he subjected himself yesterday to swab test along with 15 other employees of the GSO, who had close contact with the male utility worker who tested positive for COVID-19 Monday. The patient is in his 30’s.
Solinap said the patient is assigned to the Bacolod Arts, Youth and Sports Center (BAYS). However, he went to the GSO to follow up some documents on July 8 and 9.
Although he is assigned to the BAYS Center, he is not involved in the operation of the Bacolod Respiratory Outpatient (BRO) Center at the facility which serves as a consulting center for mild respiratory cases, he said.
Solinap said the utility worker underwent swab test Friday after complaining that he had experienced flu-like symptoms. The patient has not reported to work after the result of his swab test came out Monday since there is a standing instruction to GSO employees not to report for work if they are not feeling well, Solinap said.
He said they will close the GSO for disinfection since the patient had visited their office although they have been conducting regular disinfection.
They will also wait for the advice of Dr. Grace Tan, city’s inter-agency task force spokesperson, on whether they need to subject themselves to home quarantine, he added.
As of Monday, Bacolod has 92 confirmed cases, 52 recovered cases, 36 active cases and four deaths due to COVID-19.*
