A motorcycle-driving security guard and his back rider died yesterday in a vehicular accident at Purok La Roca in Brgy. Santa Rosa, Murcia, Negros Occidental.
The victims, identified as Christian Jay Gerial Tiansay and Cherryk Demingoy Maguad, died on the spot, P/Lt. John Paul Tabujara, officer-in-charge of the Murcia Police Station, said.
Tabujara said that the motorcycle driven by Tiansay, a 31-year-old security guard, with Maguad as the back rider, figured in a collision with a truck loaded with pineapple.
He added that both victims succumbed to head injuries.
The Murcia police said the left front tire of the Canter truck driven by Rogelio Bayot Endrina fell off while negotiating a downhill section of the road and slammed into the motorcycle driven by Tiansay, which was running in the opposite direction.
The two victims and their companion, who was driving another motorcycle, were reportedly on their way to Salvador Benedicto town when the accident took place.
Tabujara said that Endrina is now detained at the Murcia police custodial facility, while the bodies of the victims were claimed by their families.*
