A suspect allegedly involved in selling unlicensed firearms, is now locked up in jail, following his arrest on November 19 in Brgy. Tabugon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, for illegal possession of firearms.
The apprehension of alias Errol, 31, by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Bacolod City Field Unit, in line with its Oplan Paglalansag Omega, yielded three .38 caliber revolvers and a homemade shotgun.
The arrested suspect was allegedly involved in gunrunning activities, and operating in Negros Occidental.
PMaj. Gen. Robert Marico II, acting CIDG chief, commended the CIDG Regional Field Unit-NIR and CIDG Bacolod City Field Unit led by PMaj. Edgar Tonico Jr. for the arrest of the suspected gunrunner, and recovery of the loose firearms.
With this, we get rid of four instruments of killing and violence, thereby we prevented crimes, Morico said in a statement.
A truck driver was also arrested by the police on Sunday in Barangay RSB, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, for illegal possession of firearms.
The apprehension of alias Benjo, 47, of Hacienda San Julian, Barangay Crossing Magallon, Moises Padilla, yielded a homemade 12-gauge shotgun, with four ammunition.
Police investigations showed that the suspect, who was under the influence of liquor, hit a passenger tricycle, and parked his driven truck in the middle of the road.
Prior to his apprehension, the arrested suspect also shouted at the traffic investigator.*
