The separate raids conducted by the police in Negros Island Region on January 26 and 27, led to the arrest of two suspects, and the recovery of two unlicensed firearms and a fragmentation grenade, respectively.
The first police operation was initiated by the police on Monday at Purok Langka in Barangay Libas, Isabela, Negros Occidental, which led to the apprehension of alias Jer, a 29-year-old laborer. His apprehension, following the implementation of a search warrant, yielded a homemade 9mm pistol, with a magazine containing three rounds of ammunition.
Another raid in Brgy. Abis, Mabinay, Negros Oriental, which was conducted local police, troopers of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Group and the Negros Oriental Police Office, led to the arrest of the suspect who was identified as alias Berto, 47, and was also linked to the New People’s Army, engaged in extortion and armed intimidation activities.
The police recovered a caliber .45 pistol with a magazine containing five ammunition, three improvised guns, and a hand grenade.*
