Guns, shabu seized over weekend

The campaign in Negros Occidental against loose firearms and the proliferation of illegal drugs led to the arrest of four suspects on Saturday, who are now locked up in jail.

A tricycle driver identified by the police as alias Tots, 54, was apprehended at Hacienda Najalin in Barangay Nagasi, La Carlota City, following a raid at his residence, by virtue of a search warrant issued by the La Carlota Regional Trial Court.

The raid also yielded a 9mm pistol with eight ammunition, and four ammunition of a caliber .45 pistol.

Another 9mm pistol with five ammunition was endorsed to the police by two barangay tanods, which they recovered from an alias Ben, who managed to escape, on Saturday in Brgy. Salamanca, Toboso.

Two drug suspects were also apprehended by the police in separate buy bust operations in San Enrique and Binalbagan towns, on January 25.

The arrest of alias Snooky Plana, 54, in Sitio Ambacan, Barangay Poblacion, San Enrique, yielded about 15 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P102,000, and P5,073 in cash.

Policemen also recovered an estimated five grams of suspected shabu valued at P34,000 from an alias Romeo, 34, in a buy bust operation at  Zone 3 in Barangay Payao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.*
