Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has reminded Negros Occidental provincial government employees not to abuse government properties, following the dismissal of five employees assigned at the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, for misuse of government property.
The five OPA employees were dismissed from government service, as recommended by the Provincial Legal Office and approved by Lacson, for grave misconduct.
“When you take an oath as a government employee that’s one where you don’t abuse government property,” he pointed out.
Lacson said dismissal of Engr. Jimbo Garsula “sends a message that if there’s really a case against any individual, we will go through an investigation.”
“I hope it will be taken by other government employees that it’s not worth abusing the use of government vehicles. In fact, with the Capitol Cab Service everybody can use government vehicles. But, do not abuse it,” Lacson added.
Garsula and four OPA employees, who were also regular in status, were also meted the accessory penalties including cancellation of eligibility, perpetual disqualification from holding public office, barring from taking civil service examinations, and forfeiture of retirement benefits, the dismissal order said.*
