Negros Oriental “Kakampinks” are joining Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson in the campaign sorties of presidential candidate Vice President Leni Robredo and her group on March 11 in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Although he is not active in organizing, Lacson, who expressed his support to the presidential bid of Robredo, said he will be joined by local supporters of VP Leni from Vallehermoso, Canlaon City and other Negros Oriental local government units, aside from her followers in San Carlos City.

As to the officials who will be joining the Robredo rally in San Carlos City, Lacson said he has no idea. “Being my hometown, I will be there,” he stressed.

Mayor Renato Gustilo earlier disclosed that he, Rep. Gerardo Valmayor and almost all members of the San Carlos City Sangguniang Panlungsod, as well as the barangay captains of San Carlos City, have expressed their support to the presidential bid of former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

The group of VP Leni will also have campaign sorties in cities of Sagay, Kabankalan and La Carlota, as well as in Binalbagan, before holding a grand rally at the Paglaum Sports Complex in Bacolod City.

Organizers are expecting about 35,000 supporters of VP Leni and her running mate, Senator Francis Pangilinan, to join the grand rally on Friday at the Paglaum Sports Complex.Portions of Lacson, Lizares andHernaez Streets will be temporarily closed to commuters to give way to the arrival of rally participants from the different towns and cities of Negros Occidental.

The organizers are also putting up a video wall along Hernaez Street for those who cannot get inside the sports complex.

With three more days to go before the Pink People’s Rally of VP Leni and her team, thousands of volunteers have been mobilized to make sure the event goes smoothly, Pinky Ocampo, spokesperson of the Laban Leni Negros Occidental, said.

LLNO has been tasked to handle the grand rally of VP Leni at the Paglaum Stadium on March 11.

“It’s all systems go” and tens of thousands of Robredo supporters from all towns and cities in the province are preparing as well to troop to Bacolod “to send a message that Negros Occidental is pink,” Ocampo said

She added that the volunteer spirit is “overwhelming as supporters out-of-town are organizing free rides for fellow Kakampinks.”

Ocampo also disclosed that a long list of volunteer celebrity performers have signed up to join the rally. “Rivermaya is definitely coming as they themselves announced it publicly,” she said, adding that they will release the list of all performers before Friday.

Lacson earlier confirmed also his attendance to the VP Leni grand rally in Bacolod City.

Meanwhile, Ocampo reiterated the call to the commuting public to avoid the area around Paglaum Stadium as “Lacson and Hernaez streets around the Cyber Center will be closed to the public the whole day until the event is over.”

LLNO also issued an advisory that only posters and streamers of Robredo, vice-presidential running-mate, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan and their official senatorial slate will be allowed in the venue. “Local candidates’ posters and other paraphernalia will not be allowed inside the complex.”*
