Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson encouraged Negrense farmers to improve their rice production to six tons per hectare before he steps down in 2028.
The challenge to farmers was aired by Lacson during the turnover of P1.7 million worth of irrigation project to a farmer’s group in Murcia, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday.
At present, rice farmers in Negros Occidental are hitting four tons of rice production per hectare.
Lacson is seeking reelection for a third and final term as governor of Negros Occidental in the 2025 midterm elections.
On August 21, Lacson also turned over P3.4 million worth of solar powered water system to the Negros First Ranch in Barangay Santa Rosa, Murcia, which aims to ensure sustainable water supply to more than 800 animals in the area.*
