Hand, foot, mouth disease cases reported

The Bacolod City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (BCESU) recorded 113 suspected cases of Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease (HFMD) in Bacolod City, as of February 25.

Of the 113 cases, 61 are male and 52, female.

The barangays with the most number of cases are Handumanan and Villamonte with 22 cases each, Vista Alegre – 11, Bata – 6; Banago, Estefania, Pahanocoy, and Taculing with 5 cases each; Singcang, Alijis, and Tangub with 4 cases each; Mandalagan, Mansilingan, and Sum-ag with 3 cases each; and Brgy. 2, Felisa, Granada, and Brgy. 3 with two cases each.

The BCESU also recorded two suspected cases of measles and one confirmed case of the disease.

The barangays with cases of measles are Bata, Taculing and Vista Alegre.

Age range of affected individuals is between 5 months to 17- years-old.

MMR vaccines are provided free of charge at health centers.

Meanwhile, there are three confirmed, out of 11 suspected cholera cases in Bacolod.

The suspected cholera cases were recorded in Barangays Estefania, Alijis and Mandalagan.

The City Health Office continues to monitor cases of cholera in the city and conducts technical assistance on water disinfection in the community.*
