The Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) Silver Jubilarians Batch 1999 held a Harmony Run 2024 as part of its 64th Alumni Homecoming and in celebration of the 90th Founding Anniversary of the school on September 22, a press release from the organizers said.
The race took place at the BTTHS covered court and towards 1st Lacson Street, near the SSS Building, 18th St near Starbucks Lacson, and Yamaha Building in Mandalagan for the 3k, 5k and 10k race categories, respectively. It started at 5 a.m. and was formally opened by President Antonio Wong Jr. and Race Director Mark Alain de Leon of Batch 1999.
The race management was led by the Bacolod Road Stallions as the lead marshals, with the participation of Adventist Medical Center Bacolod for its official race time coordination, and the Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade and Kabalikat Civicom volunteers as its medic and safety responders.
Among the top placers were Argie Baynes, 1st place – 10k, male category, and Stephanie Cadasale, 1st place – 10k, female category; John Mark Sustento, 1st place – 5k, male category, and Magda Tabal, 1st place – 5k, female category; and John Evison Alpon, and Lescky Aboyo, 1st placers for male and female categories, respectively, for the 3k race.
They received the official Harmony Run medals, certificates, and cash prizes. The first 100 finishers in each of the three race categories also received finishers’ medals.
Special awards such as Youngest and Oldest Registered Runners, Early Bird Registrants and Family/Group with the Most Number of Registrants were given gift packs from Landers Superstore Bacolod, Globe Telecom and discount coupons from Shoe Crew Bacolod.
The race was made more successful with the generosity of its major platinum sponsors – Barcelona Aesthetics, Willtrade Marketing, Dennis de Asis, Fuel 51, Manoy’s Patahan Taculing, and Samson Merchandising Inc. The race venue setup was by Converge FiberX as the gold sponsor, along with Bacolod Icon Paints and Home Finishes.
The silver category of donors included Amaia, Bacolod La Filipina Trading, Eduard Metal Industries, and Golden Fortune Seafood Restaurant. The race items were provided and subsidized by EZ Shirts Printing and Bacolod Plastic Supply.
Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and Councilor Cindy Tan-Rojas, also a BTTHS alumna, were among the top contributors who shared snacks and meals for the runners. Also supporting the event are Agro Bulk Marine Corp, Bacolod Columbia Marketing, Falcor Marketing, Flomont Medical and Industrial Gas Supplies, Merzci Pasalubong and Port Royale.
Batch 1999 PIO Gay Marie Gane-Tiu relayed, “We garnered more than 1300 registrants composed of students, parents, teachers, the alumni, our families and schoolmates and even run enthusiasts and elite runners! We are grateful for all the support from them as they help us bring about a harmonious school spirit through the Harmony Run as we give back to our dear alma mater Bacolod Tay Tung High School.”*
