Two separate road crashes on Tuesday, along the highway of Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, left three persons dead and caused injuries to two others.
Traffic Investigator PCpl. Mark John Dato reported yesterday that Lito Garzon, 22, was declared dead on arrival at the Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital, after his driven motorcycle figured in a collision with a Toyota Fortuner vehicle driven by Evelyn Salvador on Tuesday, at the national highway of Hacienda Nueva in Brgy. Tooy, Himamaylan City.
Initial police investigations showed that Salvador, 62, who was on her way to Kabankalan City, tried to overtake another vehicle, when she hit the motorcycle driven by Garzon, which was running in the opposite direction.
As a result of the head on collision, Garzon was thrown from his motorcycle. Salvador also suffered injuries and is now being treated at a private hospital in Kabankalan City.
Garzon, who succumbed to chest and head injuries, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital by Dr. Alan Ramos, police said.
Another vehicular crash in Sitio Nato, Brgy. Aguisan, Himamaylan City, also on Tuesday, claimed the lives of Mariel Pedro, 19, and Ledesma Arselias, 46, according to the police.
Police investigations also showed that the van driven by Kimlou Serenio collided with a 150 Rusi tricycle driven by Mariel Pedro, which had two passengers.
Pedro, 19, who was found by the police be driving without a license, lost control of his tricycle, swerving to the inner lane of the road and resulting in a collision with the van, which was motoring in the opposite direction.
Arselias, 46, was reported by the police to have been declared dead on arrival at the Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital in Himamaylan City, while Pedro died while being treated in the same hospital.
The 15-year-old passenger of the tricycle is being treated for her injuries at the Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital, police said.
