The local government of Himamaylan City reported to have released P16.5 million in social services to its residents, through its City Social Welfare and Development Office, in the first six months of 2023.
These services included medical assistance, cash assistance, and burial assistance, aimed at supporting our fellow Himamaylanons in trying times, Mayor Raymund Tongson said in a statement.
Our medical assistance program ensured access to essential medications not available at the City Health Office or Gov. Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial District, Tongson said, adding that they also collaborated with local pharmacies in Himamaylan to fulfill Himamaylanon’s medical needs.
Recognizing the financial burden of certain treatments, Tongson said the LGU also offered cash assistance for dialysis, chemotherapy, housing, transportation, psychological support, temporary shelter, and covered costs associated with ultrasounds, MRI scans, CT scans, and hospital bills at private facilities.
This financial aid is aimed at alleviating the financial stress during medical journeys, he further said.
The LGU is also providing burial assistance for indigent individuals and senior citizens, understanding the emotional and financial challenges faced during bereavement, Tongson said.*
