Himamaylan City leads Negros Occidental local government units in the implementation of the Chikiting Ligtas Supplemental Immunization campaign of the Department of Health, almost three weeks after it started.
DOH Western Visayas records indicated that Himamaylan City, under the stewardship of Mayor Raymund Tongson, recorded 101.63 percent accomplishment.
Of the 9,526 children targeted for vaccination, Himamaylan City already inoculated 9,681 kids with ages five years old and below, DOH records further showed.
Chikiting Ligtas is a nationwide DOH supplemental immunization campaign, in tandem with the World Health Organization and UNICEF, against measles, rubella, and polio.
Tongson, in his social media account, disclosed that Himamaylan City has proven its unwavering commitment to protecting the health and future of their children.
He thanked the Himamaylan City Health Office and its health workers in 19 barangays for their 101 percent cooperation in ensuring the successful implementation of vaccination program.
Murcia ranked second with 92.61 percent, Silay City – 91.78 percent; Talisay City – 89.71 percent, and La Castellana – 85.79 percent, putting them among the top five performers among the province’s LGUs in the vaccination drive.
Negros Occidental remains in the top of the DOH Western Visayas list of the most number of vaccinated children at 167,594 of the targeted 222,590 kids, registering an accomplishment of 75.29 percent, as of May 18.
Guimaras is trailing Negros Occidental with 64.21 percent accomplishment, followed by Iloilo – 64.01 percent, Capiz – 62.03 percent, Aklan – 59.35 percent, Antique – 56.82 percent, Iloilo City – 54.80 percent, and Bacolod City – 53.04 percent.*
