Some 1,512 senior citizens of Himamaylan City received their National Social Pension despite the heavy monsoon rains on Monday, according to a press release from Himamaylan PIO.
Each senior received P3,000 in the payouts held at the city hall and covered courts of Barangays 1, Cabanbanan, Caradio-an, and Su-ay.
“We made sure to cover as many areas so that it won’t be difficult for our senior citizens to claim their social pension,” said City Mayor Raymund Tongson.
The payout was facilitated by the City Social Welfare and Development Office led by head Ever Grace Castro and assisted by the City Mayor’s Office.
The city mayor added that activities that push through, despite the inclement weather, must put the safety of the residents and employees of the local government first.
On September 13, the Himamaylan LGU also distributed P800,000 worth of assistance to beneficiaries of the “Walang Gutom” Program.
The first batch of the food redemption activity directly benefited 281 residents of barangays Buenavista, Carabalan, and Mahalang.
The activity held at the city hall was led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development VI and assisted by the CSWDO and CMO.
Tongson, who personally joined the distribution, reminded Himamaylanons to be always ready to evacuate in cases of emergency and natural disasters.
The beneficiaries were immediately urged to return to their homes to avoid the downpour and strong winds brought by Tropical Storm Ferdie in the afternoon.*
