Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez assured the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the armed forces in general that the House of Representatives would ensure their modernization and welfare programs are fully funded in the annual national budget, said a press release from the House of Representatives.
The leader of the 300-plus-strong larger chamber of Congress made the assurance during the PAF’s 77th anniversary celebration.
Romualdez accompanied President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. who was the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the event.
According to the Speaker, the House stands firmly behind the vision of the President for the entire armed forces.
“We are committed to providing the necessary legislative support to ensure that the modernization programs and welfare initiatives for our armed forces are fully funded and effectively implemented,” he said.
“We will continue to work on policies that enhance our defense capabilities, improve the conditions of service for our soldiers, and ensure that the Philippines remains safe and secure,” he said.
Romualdez added that the Marcos administration, including Congress, “has been steadfast in its commitment to enhancing our country’s defense capabilities.”
He pointed out that such commitment is supported by substantial budget allocations for advanced aircraft, cutting-edge radar systems and state-of-the-art equipment.
He said the President and Congress are also looking after the welfare of members of the armed forces.
The House leader thanked the Air Force personnel for their “dedication, bravery, and unwavering commitment to duty are the pillars upon which our nation’s security stands.”
At the same time, Speaker Romualdez acknowledged PAF’s participation in humanitarian and disaster response operations.*
