A 38-year-old woman was found dead in an isolated area of Sitio Capayas in Barangay Sicaba, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, on May 21, in what authorities suspect to be a case of sexual assault.
The victim, whose identity was withheld by the Cadiz City police, was discovered by her husband in an overgrown vacant lot, about 300 meters from their residence.
Police probers noted that the victim, who sustained head injuries, was found without undergarments, indicating possible sexual abuse.
Signs of struggle were found at the crime scene, including the strap of the victim’s black sling bag, which was found tightly wrapped around her neck, according to the police.
Recovered from the crime scene by the police were a coconut fruit, the victim’s sling bag, and a pair of slippers.*
