Human Rights Advocates Negros (HRAN) welcomed the decision of the Quadcom of the House of Representatives to extend its investigations to activists killed during the Duterte administration, in the context of the anti-insurgency campaign, a press release from HRAN said.
We will be preparing for active participation in such hearings to expose the role of state security forces in such incidents that violate human rights and international humanitarian law.
They cited the killing of lawyer Benjamin Ramos Jr., City Councilor Bernardino Patigas Sr. and Zara Alvarez and those killed in so-called Synchronized and Enhanced Management of Police Operations (SEMPO) in Negros Oriental.
We will be reaching out to members of the House of Representatives to bring these cases to them, the statement stressed.*
