Human bones found in Murcia sugarcane field

A human skeletal remains was found Saturday afternoon at around 3 p.m., in the middle of a sugarcane field located in Hacienda Bernabe II, Barangay Salvacion in Murcia, Negros Occidental.

The Murcia Municipal Police Station (MPS) Acting Chief of Police PCapt. Honey Labaro stated that the remains were discovered by a farm worker Jomar Dela Peña, while cutting sugarcane.

He immediately informed his overseer Jerry Dizon, who proceeded to Murcia MPS on Sunday morning at around 8:30 a.m. to report the discovery.

Murcia MPS has already requested the assistance of the Negros Occidental Provincial Forensic Unit for the scene processing.

As of press time, the police have yet to identify the victim.

The individual is believed to be male due to the brief-style blue underwear found on the remains. Aside from the underwear, the body had no other clothing.

According to authorities, no one has been reported missing in Murcia.*
