A husband is now locked up in jail, after he accidentally shot his wife dead on Thursday night at Purok Rosal in Brgy. Zone 10, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Initial police investigations showed that the incident was reportedly triggered by burial benefits, and the suspect was reported by his daughter, to have been under the influence of liquor.
The victim, identified by the police as Jean Camonias, 40, was declared dead on arrival at the Talisay City Health Office, after she was shot in the head by her husband, Jacinto, 47, following heated arguments between the couple.
A homemade shotgun, locally known as “sulpak,” with an empty shell, was recovered by responding policemen at the scene of incident.
Jacinto claimed in a radio interview that his wife was accidentally hit, as she suddenly stood up when he fired the gun.*
