HVI arrest yields P680T in shabu

The arrest of a woman street sweeper tagged as a High Value Individual in the illegal drug trade yesterday yielded P680,000 worth of suspected shabu, according to PLt. Liberty Indiape, deputy spokesperson of the Bacolod City Police Office.

Apprehended during a joint buy-bust operation conducted by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 and Police Station 6 at Sharina Heights in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City, was Mary Nessa Ong, alias Tata, 40, employed as a street sweeper and a resident of Brgy. 22, Bacolod City.

Indiape said that an estimated 100 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P680,000, P500 in marked money, P29,000 in counterfeit bills, three cellular phones and P1,100 in cash were recovered from the arrested suspect, who is currently detained at the Police Station 6 custodial facility.

She added that the arrested drug suspect was included in the list of top 10 HVI list of the BCPO.

On October 26, a drug suspect identified as Ronnie Sala was also arrested by the police in similar anti-drug operations at Crossing Maaswa in Brgy. Gen. Luna, Toboso, Negros Occidental.

The apprehension of Sala, 25, yielded an estimated two grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P13,600, cash of P231, believed to be proceeds from sale of illegal drugs, marked money of P500 and a black Rusi motorcycle, a report from the Toboso Police Station said.*
