HVI nabbed, P1.7M in shabu seized

A high-value individual with his minor companion was arrested, and at least P1.7 million worth of shabu was confiscated during the buy-bust operation conducted by the Bacolod City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) at Vicente Yap St., Barangay Singcang-Airport on Monday evening.

Arrested were Jameson Catape, 25, who was tagged as a high-value individual and was under the monitoring of the Barangay Drug Abuse Council (BADAC), and a 15-year-old minor identified as alias “John.” Both were residents of Park Abada Escay Zone 5, Brgy. Vista Alegre, Bacolod City.

The police recovered from their possession 15 pieces of heat-sealed and 2 pieces of knot-tied transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing a total 250 grams, with a standard drug price of P1.7 million.

Catape will face criminal charges in violation of sections 5 and 11 of RA 9165, or the Dangerous Drug Act, while the arrested minor was placed under the Women and Children Protection Desk for proper disposition, police report said.

A .357 caliber revolver loaded with 2 live ammunition was also confiscated from the possession of the suspect. Due to the confiscation, the arrested will be facing additional criminal charges in violation of RA 10591, or the comprehensive law on firearms and ammunition.*
