Police operatives arrested an armed individual and seized an illegal handgun during a search warrant operation in Barangay Malongcay Diot, Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental, yesterday morning.
Personnel from the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) recovered a .45-caliber pistol without a serial number, one magazine, seven live rounds of ammunition, and a black holster from the suspect’s possession at around 7:25 a.m.
Authorities said the suspect is currently detained at the Zamboanguita Municipal Police Station.
The PRO NIR said criminal charges for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, are being prepared against him.
The regional police in a statement said that they remain committed in preventing armed violence, preserving peace and order, and fostering safer communities across the Negros Island Region.*
