Talisay City Police Station conducted a search warrant on February 23 at Barangay Zone 4-A, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, resulting in the arrest of a 49-year-old male for possession of illegal firearms.
The operation was initiated following reports from concerned citizens regarding the suspect, identified by the alias ‘Chris,’ who was allegedly brandishing and handling a firearm recklessly in public while under the influence of alcohol.
These reports prompted an investigation by authorities, including casing and firearms verification, which confirmed that the suspect was not a licensed firearm holder.
Upon the execution of the search warrant for violations of Republic Act 10591, law enforcement recovered one caliber .38 revolver without a serial number and four rounds of live ammunition.
The seized evidence has been turned over to the Negros Occidental Provincial Forensic Unit for ballistic examination, while the suspect remains in the custody of the Talisay CCPS for proper legal disposition.
In a statement, the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region said the operations highlight their ongoing efforts to address the unauthorized and reckless use of firearms within the region.*
